Imagine waking up to a view of snow-covered hills, looking out at the quiet stillness of winter from your cozy home. I feel blessed to have waken up to such a sight at my Pike County, Ohio home back in January.
There’s something about a heavy snowfall that makes you stop and think. It’s as if nature hits the pause button, reminding us of its power and beauty. It’s something you don’t get to see everyday, something that some people don’t even get to see in their lifetime. That’s just the kind of captivation Southern Ohio has to offer. Straight out of a postcard. There are many places here on the edge of Appalachia that have the same effect on me.
The recent snowstorm did just that. It may have brought our busy real estate schedules to a halt, but it also gave us a chance to appreciate the serene landscape and the quiet magic of a world covered in white. It’s a humbling experience and one that reminds us how lucky we are to witness such a spectacle.
While capturing photos for a new house for sale in Manchester, Ohio we listed not long after the storm I couldn’t help but to fly over to the river icy river, and the hills covered in snow. The way the snow shows the contours of the landscape always gets me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much ice on the river in my lifetime! I try my best not to complain, because I get to see views like this when flying above Adams County.
It was definitely a chilly day to be photographing a new listing in Appalachia but I can’t blame our client for wanting their home photographed before the snow melted away. It was definitely worth the struggle.
It’s no wonder that so many people have been relocating to Southern Ohio after the past several years. I may be biased but I think I live and work in one of the most beautiful AND affordable areas in the US. One of the best places to live, hands down, or at least in the Midwest!
